Governor Gavin Newsom has appointed San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria to the California Air Resources Board (CARB). He will replace Board Member Nora Vargas who formally resigned from the San Diego Board of Supervisor on January 6, 2025. This position requires confirmation by the state Senate.
Prior to being elected as San Diego Mayor in 2020, Mr. Gloria served for four years in the California State Assembly and before that had a long history of service in the San Diego community. He earned his Bachelor of the Arts degree in Political Science and History from the University of San Diego.
As Mayor, Mr. Gloria has a long list of policy priorities, including affordable housing and homelessness, as well as enacting sustainable climate initiatives, given the coastal proximity of the area.
CRTA welcomes Mayor Gloria to the Board and looks forward to working with him to create a healthier, cleaner California.
