Assembly Member Dr. Corey Jackson (D-Moreno Valley) has been appointed by Speaker Robert Rivas to serve as the Ex Officio Member representing the California State Assembly on the California Air Resources Board (CARB). The CARB board includes two ex officio members: one from the California State Senate, currently Senator Henry Stern (D-Los Angeles), and one from the State Assembly.
Dr. Jackson replaces former Assembly Member Eduardo Garcia, who chose not to run for reelection last year. As an Ex Officio Member, Assembly Member Jackson can participate in discussions and provide input but does not have voting rights on board decisions.
Dr. Jackson represents the northwestern corner of Riverside County, an area significantly impacted by air pollution from sources such as warehouse operations and vehicle traffic. As a legislator, he has been proactive in addressing air quality concerns by promoting bills to lower vehicle emissions.
Assembly Member Jackson currently is a member of the Assembly Transportation and the Budget Committee, among others, and is the Chair of the Assembly Budget Subcommittee No. 2 on Human Services. He holds a Master and Doctor of Social Work degrees from California Baptist University.
He recently shared news of his new CARB position on social media.
