Watch California State Assembly Member Laura Friedman, Chair of the Assembly Transportation Committee and Member of the Assembly Budget Subcommittee on Climate Crisis, Resources, Energy & Transportation, discuss the need for developing a near-term emission reduction strategy that includes both zero and near-zero emission trucks in the state’s federal extreme non-attainment air districts like South Coast Air Quality Management District and the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District.
Low NOx trucks, which are certified to meet a .02 standard and are traditionally known as near-zero emission vehicles (NZEVs), are commercially available and in-use today with a proven performance record that meets or exceeds traditional diesel and can quickly be deployed as a cleaner alternative to the existing diesel fleet.
